Coaching for parents and caregivers navigating the challenges of raising children while carrying the weight and impact of past trauma.
Support for Parents Who Carry More
About Me
I’m Anderson York, a parent coach dedicated to supporting parents who are raising children while carrying the weight and impact of past trauma. I’m not a therapist or counselor—I’m a peer who has spent decades on a journey of self-discovery after experiencing complex trauma in childhood. I know how hard it is to show up for your children when your own past feels like a constant weight, and I also know that parenting doesn’t have to feel this complicated.
With graduate studies in cognitive psychology, neuroscience, and mental health, I found Self-Determination Theory (SDT) to provide the most effective framework for supporting children’s intrinsic motivation, autonomy, and resilience. My training in Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), Nonviolent Communication (NVC), and Intentional Peer Support (IPS) has further shaped my approach—offering parents a space to be heard, validated, and supported without judgment or pressure.
I help parents uncover their strengths, needs, and styles while creating a logical, sustainable approach to parenting that meets their children's fundamental psychological needs. I believe that untangling our healing from our parenting is what lightens the emotional burden of trauma. But we don’t have to do it alone. Healing, growth, and parenting are meant to happen in connection with others. When we build a sense of belonging and surround ourselves with the right support, we find the strength to show up—not just for our kids, but for ourselves.
Parenting doesn’t have to feel like an endless struggle—you already have the tools within you, and I’m here to help you find them.
